You may not realize it, but everyone has exceptionally high standards when it comes to the products you use on your face. Whether it’s lipstick or face powder, my goals are always the same: outstanding color pay-off, long-lasting wear, and smooth application. So, when I was given the opportunity to try NYX Cosmetics Sweet Cheeks Blush, I took it because their makeup lines are specifically designed to meet those standards. But would Sweet Cheeks live up to its promises? Read on and find out!
Why Do I Look for a Blush
When it comes to my blush, I’m incredibly picky. I want my blush: (1) not to cake up, even with the heavy application; (2) not too pink or dark; and (3) in a shade that gives me a natural flush of color. This means that any time I come across a new blush product, I’m hesitant about trying it out for fear of disappointment. How did it hold up against my high standards? Read on!
First off, these blushes are very pigmented and buildable – you can use as little or as much as you want. The colors aren’t overpowering like some red-based blushes can be, so I felt comfortable applying them without fear of looking clownish. They have a soft mousse-like consistency which makes them really easy to apply since they blend together so easily!
The NYX Sweet Cheeks Line
As someone who uses blush on a daily basis, I’ve come to develop pretty high standards for what a blush should be. After all, you want it to look good (obviously), but also last throughout my day without fading or transferring onto my shirt collar. You can imagine how thrilled I was when I got my hands on NYX’s Sweet Cheeks line of blushes. Could they possibly live up to my ridiculously high standards? Well, let’s find out.
If you’re like me and have very high standards for your blush, then I highly recommend checking out NYX’s Sweet Cheeks line of blushes. Not only do these cheek products deliver a great color payoff, but they’re incredibly affordable as well. In fact, if I had to choose one word to describe these blushes it would be valuable. At $6 per pop (available online and at select retailers) these are one of my top picks if you’re looking for an inexpensive yet effective product that will help complete your makeup routine!
Creamy Powder Blush Glow
NYX’s Sweet Cheeks Creamy Powder Blush glides onto skin like silk, leaving a luminous sheen of color that lasts all day. While some cream blushes can be thick and greasy, NYX’s cream blush is thin and light with just enough moisture to make it blendable. Because it’s creamy, you won’t have to worry about caking either—NYX calls it blendable cream blush in an iconic bar palette. The result is a long-lasting glow that can be worn on its own or layered on top of other products. I found that layering a bit over my everyday powder blush gave me extra pop for nights out with friends or dates (and really turned heads).
NYX Sweet Cheeks Dupes
If you’re a beauty blogger and follower of makeup trends, you’ll probably know that NYX’s famous Sweet Cheeks blush has been praised as the new NARS Orgasm. Many reviewers have compared these blushes side-by-side and said they were hard to tell apart. So naturally, customers had high expectations for these shadows.
The color payoff is great but it does take some building up if you want a darker look. As far as wear goes, these shadows lasted all day on me without fading or creasing. They’re also very easy to blend out so you can create your own unique shades depending on what kind of look you’re going for. Overall, I would recommend trying out these beautiful shades if you don’t mind spending more money than usual on drugstore makeup. These are definitely worth checking out!
Sephora Collection Colorful Contour in Second Chance
Second Chance is a warm peach shade that works well with my skin tone but isn’t too far outside of my comfort zone. While I could probably pull off a bolder shade with proper blending skills, I think Second Chance provides me with enough color options without being too intimidating. It has a creamy texture that blends out evenly and doesn’t feel heavy or cakey on my cheeks. The pigmentation allows me to get adequate coverage with just one layer, though layering it will allow for an intense pop of color.
Sephora Collection Soft Matte Perfection Blush Duos in English Rose
It was one of these bright peachy pink colors that caught my eye and it’s exactly what I’d been looking for. All of these colors are highly pigmented, so a little goes a long way. The blushes easily make their way into my top three favorite blush formulas, which is high praise coming from me since I have yet to find a blush that can do all five things on my must-have list (see below). Each duo has two shades: The first shade is matte and allows you to build color as needed; then there is a soft shimmery highlight on top for the glow. Both shades in each duo are both velvety and silky-smooth, making application really easy.
Fenty Beauty Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Bronzer in Amber
This cream-based bronzer applies smoothly with a brush, making it easy to blend into your skin and helping you achieve an even shade of bronze. If you want a more intense look, Fenty Beauty also recommends using it with a sponge for a full-color payoff. It contains some shimmer, so if you prefer matte bronzers that avoid sparkles in favor of natural-looking definition, you’ll like how subtle it looks on your face.
This bronzer is so versatile that it can be used as an eyeshadow or highlighter, too! You can apply it all over your lids for a subtle glow or use it under your cheekbones to give yourself a sun-kissed appearance. No matter where you apply it, though, one thing is certain: You’re going to love its luminous finish. This product has staying power throughout the day and will not budge once applied (unless you wear a waterproof makeup remover).
KVD Beauty Shade Light Powder Palette Refill Pan in Taupe
Kat Von D Beauty products, won’t disappoint you. The shadow was smooth and easy to apply; it blended very nicely. In addition, it came with a huge mirror, which is ideal for on-the-go touch-ups. Overall, Taupe was an excellent shade for day or nighttime wear because it added just enough color without making me look washed out. It also lasted all day long without fading.
They come in a small plastic container with no mirror or applicator included. This made it difficult to use when traveling and applying in public places. Additionally, you have to buy refill pans if you want more colors! It would be nice if they were sold individually instead of as a set of four shades.
MAC Powder Blush in Harmony
MAC Harmony Powder Blush is a soft peachy pink shade that lasts all day long. The color looks natural and blends out well. I normally prefer a cream blush, but I was pleasantly surprised with how long-wearing and blend-able MAC’s powder blush is.
There are many colors to choose from, which allows you to find your perfect shade easily. I would definitely recommend MAC Harmony Powder Blush; it has great staying power while still feeling soft on my skin. While I usually wear cream blushes more often than powder, MAC makes an exception for me. This product comes in three different sizes: 0.10 oz., 0.21 oz., or 0.33 oz., making it easy to take around with you wherever you go!
If you’re looking for something new in your makeup routine or just want a beautiful new addition to add to your collection of makeup products, try one of these three colors! What I Like About It: •Beautiful color •Long lasting •Blends very well What Could Be Improved •Not much at all!
Benefit Dallas Blush
Many women find it tough to work with high-end blush, which can be expensive. But in recent years, brands like NYX have been releasing more and more high-quality products that are affordable—or even free. One of these amazing products is New York Color’s sweet cheeks blushes, which come in six shades for around $6 apiece.
My typical daily makeup routine involves 2 blushes, 2 bronzers, and an illuminating powder. Of course, different looks call for slightly different combinations of these products—for example, some days I’ll use an extra highlight and eyeshadow instead of just bronzer—but overall, my routine doesn’t vary too drastically from one day to another.
